3 Duplexes/6 Units, Two Young Adults per Unit

The Sand Springs Home provides Independent Living (IL) placements to help transition youth ages 18-24 into the next stage of life. Our program offers a safe, stable environment designed to prepare young adults for independent living. With fully furnished duplexes and comprehensive support, we aim to equip our residents with the skills and resources they need to thrive independently.

Each 2-bedroom apartment features a shared living room, kitchen, laundry room, and bathroom, covering roughly 800 square feet. We provide all major appliances (fridge, oven, washer and dryer) and some basic furniture, as needed.

Note: We do not take emergency placements.

  • Criteria for placement includes an assessment of needs and an assessment of independent living skills/behaviors. This includes residents of the Sand Springs Children’s Home, graduated youth living in our Family Village, and other high school graduates who lack parental involvement, resources to care for themselves, and/or a consistent place to live.

    We offer private placements from across Oklahoma, regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, or disability status.

  • Each young adult in the program must be enrolled in college or a technical school and work part-time or work full-time toward a career goal. All residents must read, sign, and adhere to the program manual and agreement documents upon admission into the program.

    Participants in the program are required to meet with the IL Coordinator on a weekly basis. Participants will work with the IL Coordinator to create an Individual Service Plan that outlines specific goals, identifies areas of need, and helps determine the appropriate length of stay in the program. We are a dry campus. There are no drugs or alcohol of any kind allowed. Medical marijuana cards are not permitted due to being on the children’s home property.

    Maintaining a clean and orderly apartment and adhering to program guidelines are essential for continued residency.

  • The Sand Springs Home Independent Living Program operates with no charge for utilities or Wifi. Cable television, wireless phone plans, subscriptions and/or other bills obtained by the individual are the responsibility of the residents.

    We charge “rent”, which is based on individual needs and goes into a savings account for the benefit of the resident.

  • The length of stay is based on the individual goals of each young adult in care. Most residents will graduate on or before the age of 24.
